Shrimp Farming
A growing activity
According to data from the Brazilian Association of Shrimp Farmers (Associação Brasileira dos Criadores de Camarão – ABCC), the Northeast, with its 3,300 Km of seaside, is responsible for 94% of all shrimp produced in Brazil. Among the biggest producers are the states of Rio Grande do Norte and Bahia, but the activity also grows in the states of Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco and Piauí.
Ideal Temperature
The Region presents ideal conditions of salinity and temperature, between 24°C and 29°C, for the growing of shrimps on farms. The good infra-structure of ports, airports, and roads guarantee the necessary support to the activity for its development.
